Is Melania Trump, First Lady of the United States, former model, a Catholic — and a practicing one?
That’s what the London Daily Mail would have us believe, following the meeting her family had with the Pope on Wednesday.
It was then that the First Lady had rosary beads (others were not so sure what it was) blessed by the Holy Father.
If she is Catholic, she would be the first to occupy the White House since the Kennedys.
She comes from a Catholic family — that is, her family line and aunts and uncles.
But her own father was a Communist and she grew up in a house of atheism.
But has that changed? At a presidential rally in Melbourne, Florida, she prayed the Our Father.
And following the session of Pope Francis, she went to a Vatican-run hospital and prayed at a chapel there (placing flowers at the feet of a Virgin statue).
Still, if she is “practicing,” what church? Thus far, no reports of one in New York logging her attendance.
